On Saturday, Sep 21, 2024, Mount Ayr held it's Arbor Day celebration in the town park. This annual event was sponsored by the Mount Ayr Project Committee and the Newton County Park Board.
On Saturday, Sep 21, 2024, Mount Ayr held it's Arbor Day celebration in the town park. This annual event was sponsored by the Mount Ayr Project Committee and the Newton County Park Board.
The day began with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Cub Scout Pack #3161 (Roselawn) followed by the reading of the Arbor Day Proclamation by Dan Thomas.
Everyone enjoyed the fun, food, and activities throughout the day. The Traveling Farm Petting Zoo, crafts, local vendors, tree planting and dedication, and the North Newton FCCLA Concession Stand were available for all ages.
The free door prize drawings was a highlight during the day. Prizes were donated by Drenth Growers, A Few Shades Greener, Fair Oaks Farm Orchard, and Newton County Soil and Water.
The day ended with live music in the park by Warranted.
Mount Ayr is the smallest tree city in Indiana. The town has an annual celebration and tree planting to maintain its tree city status.
